I'm Deanda! (Dee-and-uh)

So here’s why I chose to focus my blog on taking the overwhelm out of everyday life…2018 was a particularly difficult year for me. I was living in a perpetual state of unbalance and overwhelm. My son had just turned two, and frazzled is the word that best describes how I felt all the time. I didn’t honor boundaries around my time or have systems in place to be successful at home. I was barely hanging on by a thread at work, but no one really knew. I was constantly exhausted, and regularly engaged in negative self talk for not having my life in order.

Super unhealthy, right? It’s no wonder that I started packing on the pounds in 2018. I was constantly stressed out, and cortisol (the belly fat hormone, as my best friend calls it) is the hormone that gets released when you’re stressed, and it can cause our bodies to store extra fat. Anyhow, at the end of the year I made a firm decision that I would NOT let 2019 be the same. I cried my eyes out to Jesus, and told Him that I couldn’t keep living that way. I was at my wit’s end, and I prayed that God would give me the wisdom and discipline that I needed to make some major changes.  I established systems, habits and routines that literally turned my life around. I quickly began feeling much better, and I couldn’t get enough of it!

About eight months into the year I became lax with some of the habits and routines that allowed me to care for myself in the best way. I’ve been on a journey, lately, to begin practicing those habits again, and even implementing new ones.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we had more time to devote to our purpose, passion projects, and the people we love the most? I’m committed to reestablishing systems, habits and routines into my life in a more intentional way. If any of my story resonates with you, I want to invite you to take this journey with me. Let’s stay connected and hold one another accountable!

let's see what we have in common...

1. I’m always down for a good DIY project!

2. Dresses are my favorite! There’s nothing better than an all in one outfit that doesn’t have to be ironed.

3. I sometimes lie to myself by saying “If I just walk really fast no one will see the wrinkles in my clothes, so I don’t need to iron.”

4. I think the beauty of God’s creation is mind blowing.

5. I use essential oils just about every day.

6. My heritage is Jamaican.

7. I think I have a gift for proof reading. Grammatical errors (and less than stellar sentence structure) jump out at me all over the place, and it’s hard to unsee. Here’s hoping  you don’t find too many errors on my website.

8. I sometimes struggle with self discipline.

9. I highly recommend the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. It’s what I’m currently reading.

10. I feel like iphone 6s was the perfect size! I really wish newer phones would start getting smaller instead of bigger. .
